The Vineyards
Lodmell Vineyards
Lodmell Vineyards is dedicated to growing the highest quality fruit that our terroir can produce. By maturing our vineyard slowly by limiting vegitative growth and crop loads, we have created ideal conditions that will enable us to consistently produce fruit bearing complex flavors and intense color. Lodmell Vineyards is located on bluffs above the Snake River near Fishhook Park in Walla Walla County. It has a southern sloping exposure. The soil is a Ritzville loam underlaid by fractured basalt. Our site is hotter and dryer with better air cirulation than sited located closer to Walla Walla.
Spring Creek Vineyard
Source—2006 Sauvignon Blanc, 2006 Chardonnay
At 1200 feet, the fruit from Spring Creek ripens slowly and retains a high level of acidity.
Alder Ridge Vineyard
Source—2006 Syrah
Alder Ridge is a special vineyard site because of its location and varied topography. Within the vineyard there are a large number of small blocks that lie on different slopes and on different terrain. The vineyards range from 75 feet above the river to virtually the top of the ridge—close to 1000 feet. Instead of being just one long expanse of vineyard, Alder Ridge has a great deal of variation, which offers the winemaker a variety of lots from which to choose.
The vineyard also has good air drainage, excellent exposure to the sun and volcanic soils that are perfect for producing grapes with intense fruit flavors.
